April 26-27, 2024 – The Guangzhou Ballet Theatre's original ballet 《Homeland》 made its grand debut at the Guangzhou Opera House! As a project funded by the National Arts Fund in 2025, 《Homeland》 tells the coming-of-age story of overseas Chinese descendants, blending ballet artistry with Lingnan (Southern Chinese) culture in an innovative way. The production vividly portrays the humanistic spirit and contemporary essence of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. For this performance, DLW lighting infused the stage with dynamic and soulful illumination, elevating the artistic expression.

Synopsis:
In the long river of time, every wandering heart yearns for a home… In the torrent of history, every individual carries the imprints of their heritage and the hopes of their nation… Ah Hui and Ah Lan, a young couple, meet and fall in love in a foreign land, their romance taking root in unfamiliar soil. However, the tides of time force them to confront a pivotal choice: Should they remain abroad or return to their 《Homeland》 to contribute to the flourishing Greater Bay Area?

On the stage of 《Homeland》, DLW lighting's advanced product seamlessly intertwined with ballet and Lingnan cultural elements. Each beam of light traced the emotional journey, while every shift in hue deepened the audience's connection, meeting international standards to showcase the cultural brilliance of the Greater Bay Area.
This production not only highlights Guangzhou Ballet's artistic innovation but also reinforces the Greater Bay Area's role as a hub for cultural exchange, where tradition and modernity dance in perfect harmony.
