China's First Warship Immersive Show Premieres in Zhanjiang

Apr 30, 2025

DLW Lighting Up the Heroic Spirit of the Deep Blue, Night of the Naval Port"

April 23, Zhanjiang, South China Sea – Under the vast night sky of the South China Sea, the first-ever large-scale maritime immersive performance Night at the Naval Port made its grand debut in Zhanjiang, delivering a soul-stirring spectacle that blended military grandeur, artistic innovation, and cutting-edge technology.

Produced by Zhanjiang Tourism Holding Group, created and executed by Guangdong Zhenyuan Culture Group, and supervised by the Zhanjiang Military Culture Expo Park, this groundbreaking show transformed the decommissioned guided-missile destroyer Zhanjiang into a breathtaking stage. Through five epic chapters-Forging the Warship, Encountering the Warship, Tempering the Warship, Dreaming the Warship, and Unveiling the Warship-the performance narrated a 30-year saga of China's naval glory, paying tribute to the unwavering spirit of sailors and soldiers.

A Warship Reborn: Where Steel Meets Spectacle

The Zhanjiang-once a guardian of the seas-was revitalized as an open-air theater, its decks, artillery, and radar systems becoming dynamic set pieces. Advanced projection mapping, drone light formations, and laser-like displays merged with the ship's rugged silhouette, creating an immersive experience where history and modernity collided. The show's visual mastery was further elevated by DLW Lighting's high-performance waterproof series-DLW 1200H LP66, DLW 1200LS 66, and DLW 380 BSW RP-which defied the harsh maritime environment with IP66-rated durability, cutting through salt spray and humidity to deliver razor-sharp beams.

Lighting the Way: Technology That Withstands the Storm

DLW 1200 LP66: A versatile all-weather 1200W LED luminaire combining magnesium alloy and engineering plastics for optimal heat dissipation and weather resistance. Its wide zoom range seamlessly transitions between beam, pattern, and wash effects.

DLW 1200 LS66: Engineered for long-throw precision (5° minimum beam angle), this fixture's optimal cooling system and vibrant color mixing brought cinematic clarity to the seascape stage.

DLW 380 BSW RP: A compact yet powerful hybrid light (IP55/IP66-rated) with a 1.8° ultra-narrow beam, prism effects, and vibrant gobos, ideal for dramatic aerial projections.

A Creative Dream Team: From CCTV spring Festival to the Blue Seas

Helmed by Yang Dongsheng (CCTV Spring Festival Gala director) and produced by Liang Zhenyun (renowned international event strategist), the show assembled a world-class creative ensemble:

Co-Director & Stage Designer: Shang Tianbao

Sound Designer: Song Duoduo

Music Director: Ding Ji

Lighting Designer: Wu Wei

Warship Lighting Sculptor: Zheng Zhiwei

More Than a Show: A Tribute to Naval Legacy

Beyond its technical brilliance, Night at the Naval Port served as a moving tribute to China's naval heroes, blending reenactments of historic missions with futuristic visuals of aircraft carrier fleets.

Zhanjiang Warship-now a beacon of culture and memory-ushered in a new era of military-themed entertainment, proving that the stories of the deep blue can inspire as powerfully as the seas themselves.

With plans for a permanent run, Night at the Naval Port is set to become a must-see cultural landmark, merging patriotism, art, and technology to illuminate China's maritime dreams.
